Aquarium Potted Plants – what to do with them



A short video from Aqua Essentials explaining what to do with your aquatic plants when they arrive with you. Potted plants need to be removed from their plastic pots along with their rock wool and this clip details what you need to do and how to split the plants up.

  1. helloI i have not got substrate in my 91 LT tank can i use root tabs as my tank has just finished a fishless cycle and I don't want to remove the sand? Many thanks

  2. @xXxSTENCHxXx you can – for best results remove from pot though and plant in a decent substrate such as Colombo FloraBase

  3. @JACOBiiTE I wouldn't recommend keeping them in their pots – but if you have no substrate, you have little alternative. If you want to grow your plants, invest in a substrate like Colombo Florabase which can be found on our website
